When you Don’t use Photoshop

Most big companies have a PR department with photographers on staff.  If they don’t, they hire the best they can find.  Making the official photo of the CEO look as perfect as possible is important for corporate image and showing the ideal view of the of  hard-working employees happily doing their job is worth paying a premium for.  What happens when a company is cheap and does it poorly?

Americablog.com has a piece about BP and photoshopping.  It explains better than I can about how hideously BP edited a PR photo recently.  The short version is they placed items into the scene poorly and even gave someone the most obvious giveaway, a halo.

Better yet, while under criticism they removed the edited version and put the original up.  In doing this they showed that the original photo, purported to be of the recent oil spill efforts, was taken 9 years ago.

So BP was photoshopping and lieing.

BP: 0, better photographers: 1
